If you are staring at two Azure Fundamentals exams and wondering which one to sit first, you are asking the right question early. DP-900 is the Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) exam. It is built around data: how data is described and stored, how relational and non-relational workloads run on Azure, and how analytics workloads are shaped. If your day involves databases, reporting, pipelines, or you are heading toward a data-engineer or data-analyst track, DP-900 is the natural first step.
AI-900 is the Azure AI Fundamentals exam. It sits over machine learning concepts and Azure AI services rather than data storage and analytics. The AI-900 vs DP-900 decision usually comes down to your role: choose AI-900 if you work near models, cognitive services, or applied AI features, and DP-900 if you work near the data those systems depend on. Neither is a prerequisite for the other, and many people eventually take both. How DP-900 is scored and timed
DP-900 is delivered as a linear exam. The Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) exam is scored on a 0 to 1000 scale, and the pass standard is 700 out of 1000. That pass mark is Microsoft's own published standard. Note that a 700 is a scaled score, not a raw percentage, so it does not translate directly into "get 70 percent of questions right".
