So what does DP-300 actually test?

If you administer Azure SQL databases and you are weighing the DP-300, your real question is probably simple: what is on it, and how ready am I? The exam is Administering Microsoft Azure SQL Solutions (DP-300), and it is aimed squarely at people who manage data platform resources on Azure day to day. It is not a theory quiz about databases in general. It leans on operational skills: securing environments, monitoring and tuning, automating routine work, and building for high availability and disaster recovery.

Microsoft scores DP-300 on a scale of 0 to 1000, and you need 700 to pass. That is not a percentage, so do not read 700/1000 as "70% correct" — it is a scaled score, and the mix of items you see is weighted toward the heavier domains. Which brings us to the most useful thing you can study from: the published domain weighting.

The domains and how they are weighted

Microsoft groups the objectives into five functional areas. The weights below come straight from the vendor's official DP-300 study guide, verified on 24 August 2026. Notice that security, monitoring and optimisation, and HA/DR each carry the most weight — plan your revision hours accordingly.

Format, timing, and an honest note on our mock

How to use a DP-300 mock test well

A good DP-300 mock test is a diagnostic before it is a rehearsal. Sit the first attempt cold, then read your per-domain breakdown against the weights above.
